Laurie Canter
Professional Golfer

Laurie Canter is a English professional golfer who competes on both the European and Challenge Tours. Shining as an amateur player and winning both the South African and Spanish Amateur Championships, Laurie made the decision to turn professional in 2011.

He secured his European Tour card for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons through Q-School and 2017 was his best golfing season to date. A tied 14th finish at the 2017 BMW SA Open was quickly followed by a win at the Dimension Data Pro-Am in the team event. The following week, Laurie tied 16th at the Joburg Open.

July 2017 was an exciting time for Laurie as he qualified for The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale through Final Stage of Qualifying. This was Laurie’s second Open Championship, as he competed as an amateur back in 2010. In 2017, Laurie finished off the tournament in a very respectable tie for 37th.

Laurie will compete on both the European and Challenge Tours for the 2018 season. He has started his season with solid finishes of T8 at the Barclays Kenya Open and T21 at the Tshwane Open.

Madi Rowlands
GB Park and Pipe team member

Madi has been skiing since she could walk and took up an interest in freestyle skiing by following her older brother Michael through the ski park on family holidays. Madi quickly progressed and entered her first competitions in 2010. In 2011, she entered the British Ski Championships in Switzerland and won gold in her age category across all four events. In 2013, Madi became the youngest ever athlete to win the British Championships overall women’s slopestyle event. In 2014, she repeated this victory, also adding the overall halfpipe title as well!

As a result of these successes, Madi became the youngest member of the GB freestyle team representing GB in both halfpipe and slopestyle disciplines – the only GB athlete doing both. In 2016, Madi was selected to represent GB at the Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, where she became the first ever GB athlete to win a gold medal on snow by winning the halfpipe competition. A few days later she added a bronze medal in the slopestyle event.

Charlie Brackpool
Team GB Kayaker

Charlie Brackpool has been kayaking since he was 14. Now aged 20, Charlie has already competed for Team GB for 4 years in the Freestyle Kayaking division.

"Freestyle Kayaking is a fast-paced dynamic sport, the best way to describe is to say it is like freestyle snowboarding but in a kayak! You have 45 seconds to do as many tricks as possible on a section of white water. How many points you score depends on the difficulty of the trick. On top of this you can score bonus points depending how much air you can get and if you don't use your paddles to complete a trick."

Charlie is currently training for the Freestyle Kayaking World Championships which take place in San Juan this November and December.
