Snugs AHP (Advanced Hearing Protection) are high-fidelity earplugs with tuned attenuation, achieved with high performance and acoustically balanced attenuation filters. This reduces all frequencies by approximately the same level, in effect turning down the volume to a safer level. Perfect for those who require sound accuracy and full spatial awareness, unlike foam plugs that poorly distort the sound.
The range of Noise Reduction Ratings (NRR) for established hearing protectors is approximately 0 to 30. A higher number denotes greater effectiveness and protection possible for a few motivated proficient users to achieve or exceed.
Perfect for all noisy events and workplaces, include: Industry, Concerts, Stadiums, Festivals, Indoor Gigs & House parties, Professional Acoustics, Lawn Mowers and Chain Saws, DIY, Noisy homes or workplaces, and anywhere where you want to turn the volume down but still hear everything, just quieter.

Can I change the filter in my SnugsAHP add
Yes, you can change the attenuated filters. We stock a range of filters with different levels of decibel protection, you can order filters here
We have supplied your SnugsAHP with Dynamic Ear Corps (DEC) DR 20dB attenuated filter. This is the best all round filter. If you need more or less attenuation then you can easily change the filters.
Why should I protect my ears from Noise? add
Noise is measured in decibels (dB), and exposing your ears to high levels puts them at risk of being damaged. The UK’s “action level” for hearing protection is at 85db, although some sources recommend taking action at just 70dB. It is worth bearing in mind that the dB scale is logarithmic, which means that the noise energy doubles every 3dB.
What’s the damage?
In 2018, the General German Automobile Association (ADAC) conducted a study which revealed that permanent hearing damage can be caused after only 15 minutes of riding a motorbike at 62mph without earplugs (BMF 2019).
If you are exposing your ears to excessive noise, you can get Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). This means that you can only hear sound at certain frequencies, but not others. In the UK, more than 40% of people over 50 years old have hearing loss, rising to more than 70% of people over the age of 70 (AHL 2018); without using ear protection, it is likely you will need a hearing aid at some point – a potentially expensive proposition.
Additionally, noise can cause Temporary Threshold Shift (TTS) where you can experience temporary hearing loss. It is believed to be caused by your ears trying to adapt to an over-exposure to loud noise. The partial deafness blocks out all frequencies which can be dangerous. Continuous TTS exposure can lead to tinnitus symptoms and cause permanent inability to hear. One day you may wake up and the ringing in your ears does not go away; it is estimated that more than 1 in 7 people in the UK are living with tinnitus (BTA 2021).
Tell me more about... Attenuation add
Noise Reduction Ratings Explained: Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is a unit of measurement used to determine the effectiveness of hearing protection devices to decrease sound exposure within a given working environment. Classified by their potential to reduce noise in decibels (dB), a term used to categorise the power or density of sound.
Hearing protectors must be tested and approved in the USA by the American National Standards (ANSI) and CE certified in Europe.
The higher the NRR number in the USA or SNR in Europe, associated with a hearing protector, the greater the potential for noise reduction.
Environmental Impact of Snugs versus Foam earplugs add
Foam plugs are very rarely biodegradable and the amount of landfill created by each company and employer is staggering.
A company of 100 workers will dispose of 100,000 foam earplugs a year to landfill, assuming each worker uses 2 pairs a day, for 250 days a year.
SnugsAHP are made from a medical-grade silicone which are reusable and will last for years. By choosing SnugsAHP over disposable earplugs, you can contribute to the global effort of reducing the amount of waste going into landfill, or as waste exported to less affluent countries and piled unceremoniously. This landfill waste is further compounded when you include the earplugs packaging of a box or individual plastic wrappers.
On average, each employee will dispose of 1,000 foam earplugs to landfill, per year, making Snugs the eco-friendly alternative to foam earplugs.

Additional benefits of Snugs vs. Foam Plugs add
Snugs feature a unique venturi shaped filter (25dB attenuated filter) embedded into the plug. This enables the wearer to clearly hear conversations while reducing harmful sounds. The filter allows air to constantly flow into the ear; this ventilation minimises the sound occlusion effect and avoids irritation within the ear canal. Foam plugs on the other hand do not ventilate the ear canal and conversational sounds are acoustically muffled and un-clear.
Foam earplugs can be a breeding ground for bacteria, thanks to the combination of moisture, warmth and dirt in the ear. Re-using dirty earplugs can lead to serious ear infections, meaning that it’s good practice to throw them away after a single use. Employees should always be reminded that they are single use only, even though this is written on the packaging for liability reasons.
Some people will wash their plugs in soapy water, however this is no guarantee of removing the nasties and can also lead to degradation of the material. If the plugs harden, or don’t return to their original shape when squeezed, then they’ll no longer be effective at blocking out sounds and will need to be thrown away anyway.
So, the financial cost of foam plugs can soon add up, when used correctly as single-use consumables (akin to a syringe), and that’s before considering the environmental costs of using disposable plugs.
Regular users can have all the advantages of Snugs Custom Fit Earplugs, which can pay for themselves in a matter of months and present a clear environmentally friendly option.
Snugs are made from medical-grade silicone, are hypoallergenic, non-flammable and are recyclable. Of great importance is the fact the Snugs Earplugs are re-usable for years and years. Snugs can be wiped down between uses to keep them in tip-top condition.
Can I return my SnugsAHP if they do not fit? add
SnugsAHP are customised to fit your outer ear (Concha bowl & Helix) to match the unique shape and size of your ears and as such our returns policy may differ from that commonly offered with non-custom fit products. We offer a 30-day remake policy, where we will adjust the size and remake your SnugsAHP, so they fit better. In most cases, this works out great for our customers. However, if you’re still not satisfied, then we’ll be happy to offer you a refund or gift card.
What are Snugs made from? add
All Snugs are made from hypo-allergenic medical-grade silicone which will sit comfortably in your ear.
How do I care for my Snugs? add
If you use your Snugs a lot, there will likely be a build-up of natural oils. If this is the case, you can then wash them in hand-hot soapy water (washing up liquid works best), and allow them to dry naturally. Do not use anything abrasive when cleaning your Snugs as this may damage the silicone.

Yes, you can order SnugsAHP for someone else but please note that you will need to order in their name. Alternatively, you can order them a gift card here
I've lost one/both of my Snugs. Can I order replacements? add
Yes, we will save your correctly fitting ear files and reprint your Snugs for you. You can order a single replacement or a pair here
