How to fit your Shield Hearing Protection (Canal style)

These instructions are for canal style hearing protection, which means the Snug provides a custom fit in the ear canal only. Hearing protection made in canal style design include:

- ZenCalm

Step 1: Identify your left and right snug

If you have same-coloured Snugs, you can identify the ears by the colour of the ‘S’ engrave.

The left ear will have a BLUE engrave; the right ear will have a RED engrave

Step 2: Apply comfort balm

Your order is supplied with a small tube of comfort balm. For the initial fitting, apply a small amount of balm along the ear canal of your Snug to help you fit smoothly (dry ears and new silicone can make it trickier for the first fitting).

Once you have used your Snugs a few times, you should no longer require the balm for fitting.

Step 3. Insert your snugs into your ears

Put the ear canal part of the Snug into your ear first, ensuring it is inserted fully. Put the right-sided Snug into your right ear, and vice versa. The tab to help you remove your Snugs should lie flat along the back of your concha bowl.

As they are custom fit to the exact shape of your ears, they should naturally slot into the correct, comfortable position.

Please note for removal of your Snugs:

To help break the seal, wiggle your jaw with a big, exaggerated movement, and then remove by gently pulling the tab handle.

Step 4. Check the fit

Wear your Snugs to check you are happy with the fit. They should feel comfortable to wear for many hours. If you have any concerns or would like alterations made, please contact the team within 30 days of receiving your Snugs and they will guide you through the remake process

I have run out of fitting balm. What can I use on my Snugs?

uThe fitting balm is a water-based lubricant. You can order spare balm here.

You must avoid using any products with petroleum in them (such as Vaseline) on your Snugs, as this can degrade the silicone.

How do I clean my Snugs?

To keep your Snugs in the best condition and free from oil build up, we recommend cleaning them regularly.

Simply soak them in warm, soapy water for a few hours or overnight. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow them to air dry completely before using again.

Avoid using harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners - only ever use soap and never submerge any electronic parts (like your earphones). You do not need to remove your filters as these are waterproof.

Do I need to have new impressions taken for every order?

No! If we already have a scan or impression on file, we can often reuse it for new Snugs products.

Can I change the filters in my Snugs?

Yes, you can change the filter. We stock a range of filters with different levels of decibel protection, you can order filters here.
